SALERNO
An eternal city, overwhelmed by history, linked to its traditions, a city of extraordinary beauty, not only landscape but also architectural, its history is linked to its geographical position as well as to the history of the Salerno medical school, born around the sixth century . POMPEI
Pompeii irresistibly attracts visitors to the rediscovery of what remains of the ancient splendor of the Roman Empire in the 80s BC. Pompeii was partially destroyed and covered by the eruption of the Vesuvius Volcano in 79 AD. and forgotten over the years. The excavations began in the 18th century and gradually led to the discovery of the fabulous villas with frescoes preserved over time, an amphitheater and everything that can demonstrate the prosperity of this city in the past. The excavations are not finished and still continue today with the aim of donating the treasures of the past to modern civilization.
CAPRI
Island of Capri is one of the most renowned international tourist destinations. The island has rich vegetation and a fabulous blue sea, which enchant the visitor. Visit the famous Villa San Michele, the former residence of the Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munte, “the gardens of Augustus”, the blue grotto (sea conditions permitting), the remains of Villa Jovis, the residence of the Emperor Tiberius. A boat trip around the island is possible.
SORRENTO
Sorrento is a place where so many colors are mixed so as to be amazed, just look at the tufaceous ridge, the jagged coasts, the protected coves, the bays and the panorama of the Gulf of Naples where you can admire the Vesuvius, the historic volcano that destroyed Pompeii on 24 August 79 AD. From Sorrento you can glimpse Capri, a wonderful island as well as Ischia and Procida retain their ancient beauty.
CILENTO
Cilento is a land of ancient beauty, full of cultural and landscape treasures, over the centuries it has inspired poets and singers. Many of the legends of Greek and Roman myths, the origins of Western culture, have had its coasts as their theater. More recently, the American writer Ernest Hemingway drew inspiration to write “The old man and the sea” from the seafaring life of the splendid Acciaroli.
AMALFI COAST
POSITANO
It was a small village with houses built into the rock, today it is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Italy. Positano is famous for its fashion, created by some local stylists and sold in typical shops. The village should be visited on foot going up and down through characteristic alleys. The coastal road passes above the village, so that on the excursion to the Amalfi Coast a panoramic stop is made at the Belvedere, to allow one of the most beautiful views in the world. Generally this visit is combined with that to Amalfi or Ravello.
AMALFI
One of the oldest maritime republics, as well as the homeland of Flavio Gioia, inventor of the “compass”. In the center of Amalfi, preceded by a wide staircase, stands the Cathedral, consecrated to St. Andrew (IX century) with a spectacular facade, decorated in the tympanum by a nineteenth-century mosaic. Free time for lunch. We recommend a visit to the Arsenals, where the great galleys of the fleet were built.
